Finish Options After Honing

Honed Matte:
low reflection, hides light traffic wear, great for busy homes
Honed Satin:

Honing vs Grinding

Honing removes surface damage and minor lippage using finer grits. It preserves more stone and is right for most homes.
Grinding removes heavier lippage or severe damage with coarse grits. It is used when tiles are significantly uneven or the floor needs full flattening.

FAQs

Will honing remove all scratches and etches?

Yes for most surface damage. Very deep gouges may need localized repairs or additional steps. We will show you during testing.

Will my floor be slippery after honing?

A honed finish has more grip than high gloss. If slip resistance is a concern, choose a honed matte or satin level.

How much lippage can honing fix?

Honing can reduce minor lippage. Significant lippage may require grinding. We will measure and explain on site.

Do you create a lot of dust?

We use wet methods and containments to control dust. Work zones are kept tidy throughout the job.

How long until we can walk on the floor?

Light foot traffic is usually fine the same day. If we seal or polish afterward, we will give you simple cure times.
